From February 1 to April 1, 2026, students and young researchers are invited to apply for participation in the international summer school “Living Traditions: Latvia’s Intangible Cultural Heritage” and its accompanying scholarship.

Organized by the Institute of Latvian History at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, and supported financially by the State Education Development Agency (VIAA), the summer school will take place from June 28 to July 7, 2026, across Riga, Daugavpils, and Subate (Latvia), offering participants an immersive exploration of Latvia’s rich intangible cultural heritage.

The main objective of the summer school is to promote research into and the popularization of Latvia’s historical and intangible cultural heritage, with a particular focus on the traditions of Latgale and Selija, as well as to ensure the creation of a sustainable platform for cooperation among researchers and students from Latvia, Europe, and the wider world.
