The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Latvia invites scholars, students, and other interested in the field of humanities to submit proposals for the second thematic block of the 84th International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia, titled "History, Languages and the Resilience of Identity".
Applications for all sections are open until March 2, 2026.
We invite researchers and students in history, archaeology, memory culture, and related humanities to apply for this section:
- Pagātnes krustpunkti: vara, identitāte un vēstures pētniecība | Crossroads of the Past: Power, Identity, and the Research of History
- Scheduled to take place from April 14 to 16, over three days.
We invite researchers in linguistics, applied linguistics, discourse analysis, language didactics, cultural and literature studies to apply for this section, interpreting the interaction between language, discourse and culture in Europe as a factor with broad influence:
- Eiropa daudzveidībā: diskursi, valodas un kultūras | Europe in Diversity: Discourses, Languages and Cultures
- Scheduled to take place April 14.
Language, culture, and religion researchers are invited to apply for the section on current methods and ideas in modern Eastern studies:
- Baltijas austrumpētnieku ieguldījums nozares attīstībā | The Contribution of Baltic Orientalists to the Development of the Field

Researchers in the fields of history, theology, and religious studies are invited to apply for the section:
- Ar Dievu uz pusēm: no viduslaikiem līdz mūsdienu politikai | God à la carte: From the Middle Ages to Contemporary Politics
- Scheduled to take place April 15.
We invite scholars of philosophy, history of science, literature, and linguistics to apply for the section:
- Vācija-Baltija: filozofija, valoda un kultūra | Germany-Baltic States: Philosophy, Language and Culture
- Scheduled to take place from April 15 to 16.
Scholars in linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, history, folklore, sociology, anthropology, education, migration, and diaspora studies are invited to apply for the section:
- Identitāte, modernais un tradicionālais Latvijā un diasporā / Identity, the Modern and the Traditional in Latvia and the Diaspora
