The Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at UL FH invites everyone to a seminar with professor Marina Bykova (North Carolina State University, USA), editor of the book and initiator of the idea about critical perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine war.

Marina F. Bykova is Professor of Philosophy at North Carolina State University and Editor-in-Chief of Studies in East European Thought. She received her Ph.D. (1985) and Dr. habil. (1993) from the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, where she held the position of Leading Researcher before joining NC State in August 2000. Her research centers on the history of nineteenth-century continental philosophy, with a particular focus on German Idealism, especially the work of Fichte and Hegel. She has also made significant contributions to the study of Russian philosophical and intellectual traditions. Professor Bykova is the recipient of numerous international research awards and fellowships, including the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany), the European Fellowship (Switzerland), the Lise Meitner Fellowship (Austria), and the Aleksanteri Institute Visiting Fellowship (Finland). She is the author or editor of 13 books and has published more than 240 scholarly articles in Russian, German, and English. Her most recent publications include the edited volumes Hegel’s Philosophy of Nature: A Critical Guide (Cambridge University Press, 2024) and At the Vanishing Point in History: Critical Perspectives on the Russia–Ukraine War (Bloomsbury Academic, 2025).
