The event will bring together historians, researchers in other humanities disciplines, and experts in regional cultural history from leading regional research centers in several European countries.
The seminar will take place on May 29, 2026, at the University of Latvia, 4 Kalpaka Boulevard, in the Microsoft Hall (second floor).
The aim of the seminar is to deepen understanding of the mutual connections between Latgale and the historical Viciebsk Province, with a particular emphasis on the region’s ethnic, religious, and administrative diversity.
The seminar will examine political, social, and cultural processes from the 18th to the 20th centuries, as well as the latest research methods and source materials.
The event is organized with support from the European Union’s support fund, which ensures the participation of international experts, high-quality academic discussions, and the publication of the seminar materials.
