Traditions that continue and constantly grow!
UL's FH is a place where long-standing academic traditions, student initiatives, and a contemporary study environment intersect. Following the 2024 consolidation, a unified structure was established, merging the former Faculty of Humanities with the historic Faculty of History and Philosophy (FHP) and the Faculty of Theology (FT), creating a united faculty with a diverse academic and cultural life.
Following the consolidation, the faculty continues to uphold and nurture the traditions of all its historical faculties, while also fostering new endeavours that will hopefully become an integral part of the FH’s identity in the future. Students participate in both academic and cultural and social events, which strengthen the sense of community within the faculty and beyond.
Among the traditions most beloved by students, the following stand out: field seminars, "Pre-Aristotle," “AkDzeja” – an acoustic poetry event that brings together not only FH's students but also representatives from other faculties and disciplines, as well as theology retreats and many other events that make life at our faculty special every year.
FH Student council
Faculty of Humanities Student Council represents students' interests in faculty , including the faculty assembly and council, and looks after students' academic and social interests.
At the same time, students are actively participating in the Students' Council of the University of Latvia, taking part in university-wide activities, events, and projects. This allows them not only to represent the interests of students but also to continue and strengthen the traditions of the entire University of Latvia.
FH Student Council is a place where you can gain experience, meet like-minded people, bring your ideas to life, and become an active part of faculty life. Every student is invited to get involved, contribute, and help shape our community together.
