She is a student of Jacques Lacan, a philosopher by training, founding member of the École de Psychanalyse des Forums du Champ Lacanien (School of Psychoanalysis of the Lacanian Field), a doctor of psychopathology, and the author of numerous books. In January 2026, Soler published the book What Lacan Said About Women.
On Friday, April 17, 2026, at 17:00, in the Small Hall of the University of Latvia (Raiņa bulvāris 19, Riga), Colette Soler gave a public lecture titled The Emergencies of Psychoanalysis in the Contemporary World.
All societies, including contemporary capitalist society, form masses and attempt to impose norms upon the flesh and the body through governance and education. This raised the question Freud posed from the very beginning: what is the place and role of psychoanalysis, which neither governs nor educates? Based on what subjects say, psychoanalysis operated with the symptom — precisely that which is unique in each individual. Here, the conflict of civilization was at stake.
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00, in Room 078 of the National Library of Latvia (Mūkusalas iela 3, Riga), Colette Soler’s clinical seminar The Power of Freud’s Method took place.
Freud discovered not only the unconscious. A far more significant discovery of his is the method that combines uncensored speech and interpretation. In this way, the scope of any psychoanalysis is defined and the very nature of the unconscious is examined.
